SAMBAR -2

INGREDIENTS :
1 Cup Toor dal
1/2 cup vegetable for sambar ( Carrot , potato , radish , pumpkin , chow-chow , turnip , lady'sfinger , Capsicum etc)
1 medium onion
1 medium tomato
Tamarind pulp - lemon size
2 tbsp sambar powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt as per taste

For seasoning :
1 tbsp oil,
1 tbsp mustard seeds , urad dal , fenugreek seeds , fennel seeds

METHOD :
* Cook toor dal with enough water , salt for 4-5 whisltes and keep it aside
* Soak tamarind in warm water for 10 mins and extract the juice and keep it aside
* Chop the vegetable into thick cubes and keep it aside
* Finely chop the onion and tomato and keep them aside
* In a kadai Do the seasoning , add the onions and fry them till transparent with salt and turmeric powder
* Add the tomatoes and cook till done .
* Add the vegetable and fry for a minute
* Now add the tamarind juice , sambar powder and let it boil
* Let it cook till the vegetable is done
* Smash the dal and add it to the sambar
* Let it boil
* Remove from heat and garnish with curry leaves
* Serve hot with Rice / Idli / Dosa
