THATTAI


INGREDIENTS :
1 cup Rice flour
5-6 tbsp gram flour or roasted dal powdeer
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tbsp jeera
1 tbsp Til/sesame seeds
Salt 1 tbsp ( as per taste )
Asafoetida a pinch
Butter 1 tbsp
Channa dal 2 tbsp
Oil for frying

METHOD :
* Soak dal for 30 mins , drain the water and keep it aside
* Mix all the ingredients including the dal with little water
* Make a soft dough , make sure the dough is not watery or sticky
* Take a plastic sheet/ ziploc bag , coat with oil
* Take a small ball out of the dough , put it in the sheet , pat it so that to make a small circular disc which is about 1mm thick
* Make several discs like this
* To avoid puffing of discs while frying pierce the discs at several places with a fork
* Meanwhile heat oil in a kadai
* When the oil is hot , place in the discs in the oil and deep fry it
* Turn upside down the discs when one side is done
* When the bubbles around the discs disappears , the thattai is done
* Remove from heat , drain the oil and store it in an air-tight container !!
